Peer Review Process
At-Tajdid: Jurnal Ilmu Tarbiyah is a peer-reviewed academic journal that applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of published articles. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes an editorial assessment and, if it meets the journal's requirements, is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject of the manuscript.
The peer review process aims to assess the manuscript's academic contribution, theoretical foundation, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and relevance to the focus and scope of At-Tajdid: Jurnal Ilmu Tarbiyah. The journal follows the steps outlined below.
1. Submission of Manuscript
The corresponding author submits the manuscript through the journal's online submission system using Open Journal Systems (OJS). Authors must ensure that their manuscripts comply with the journal's author guidelines, formatting requirements, publication ethics, and submission policies. The manuscript must be original, must not have been published previously, and must not be under consideration for publication by another journal.
2. Initial Editorial Assessment
The editorial team conducts an initial assessment to determine whether the submitted manuscript falls within the focus and scope of At-Tajdid: Jurnal Ilmu Tarbiyah. The editor checks the manuscript's completeness, structure, language, adherence to the author guidelines, and overall suitability for further review.
The editorial team may also conduct a similarity check using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements or fall outside its scope may be rejected at this stage or returned to the authors for improvement.
3. Assessment by the Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief evaluates the manuscript's originality, significance, relevance, and potential contribution to scholarship in Islamic education and related fields. The editor determines whether the manuscript is suitable for peer review. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's academic standards may be rejected without external review.
4. Selection and Invitation of Reviewers
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment are assigned to at least two independent reviewers whose expertise corresponds to the manuscript's subject matter. Reviewers are selected based on their academic qualifications, research expertise, and ability to provide objective and constructive evaluations.
The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. Reviewers must have no conflicts of interest that could compromise the impartiality of their assessments.
5. Reviewer Responses to Invitations
Invited reviewers consider the manuscript's subject, their relevant expertise, potential conflicts of interest, and availability before accepting or declining the invitation. If a reviewer declines, the editor may invite another qualified reviewer to ensure that the manuscript receives an appropriate and impartial evaluation.
6. Review of the Manuscript
Reviewers evaluate the manuscript in accordance with the journal's academic standards. Their assessment may consider the following aspects:
-

Reviewers provide constructive comments and recommend whether the manuscript should be accepted, accepted with minor revisions, revised and resubmitted following major revisions, or rejected. The final decision rests with the journal's editorial team.
7. Evaluation of Review Reports
The editor evaluates the reviewers' reports and recommendations before making an editorial decision. If the reviewers' assessments differ substantially, the editor may seek clarification or invite an additional reviewer. The editorial decision considers the quality of the manuscript, the reviewers' comments, and the journal's editorial standards.
8. Communication of the Editorial Decision
The corresponding author is informed of the editorial decision through the journal's OJS system or official editorial communication channel. Relevant reviewer comments are communicated anonymously to the author to support the revision process.
Authors whose manuscripts require revision must respond to the reviewers' comments and revise their manuscripts accordingly. A revised manuscript should be accompanied by a response document explaining how each comment has been addressed or providing a reasoned explanation when a suggestion has not been adopted.
9. Revision, Final Evaluation, and Publication
Revised manuscripts are evaluated by the editor and, when necessary, returned to the original reviewers for further assessment. Minor revisions may be assessed by the editor, while major revisions may require another round of peer review.
The editor makes the final decision based on the revised manuscript and the extent to which the authors have addressed the reviewers' comments. Manuscripts that satisfy the journal's requirements are accepted for publication. Accepted articles proceed to copyediting, proofreading, layout, and publication according to the journal's editorial schedule.
Published articles are made available online through the journal's website in accordance with its open access policy.
